DIY headboard is the idea you can use if you want a new shape of headboard in your bedroom. It is one of the easiest DIY projects you can do. You can change the appearance of your old headboard into a new personalized headboard for your room. Choose your new shape of the headboard and start to make it real.
Firstly, you need to determine the new shape you want on your new headboard. There are a number of shapes we found in the stores such as Alexander, Belgrave, Berkeley, Russell, York, and Cleveland etc. Choose the one you like most, for example you choose the Alexander look.
After you determine the shape, get the measurement to suit your bed. Then you can go getting a big piece of mdf of the hardware store based on the measurement you’ve got. Now you can start to cut the corners out. It’s up to you to determine how big of the cut out you wanted. Make sure it is even on both sides.
You can make a line on the corner to cut one side out with the jigsaw. That first piece is all you need to make the second one, just place it on the other corner, trace, and you’ve got a mirror image. Here you are, you get the shape on your DIY headboard. Now, continue to covering the mdf with a layer of batting or thin fabric, a piece of muslin is also an option.
Use mattress pads foam and secure it with a layer of batting or thin fabric. After that, you can drill some holes and cover the lower by pillows or the mattress. After the holes were drilled, add the final fabric. You’re almost finishing.
Now you can make the tufted look by threaded some fabric-covered buttons by making a little knot at one end, then stapled it to the back of the headboard. Push the needle through the headboard, thread the button on, and push it back through to the back. Congratulation you’ve done. You can also add a nailhead trim to make it looks better. Now, you get more fun in your new DIY headboard.
