How to clean a bathtub can be a difficult thing to do without any knowledge in maintaining the bathtub type. Having old bathtub means you need to diligent to clean it from the stain from everyday use or drain cleaner and bleach.
You can be stress about cleaning your dirty tub if you don’t know the right ways to clean it. There are some bathtub types in the stores and each type has different kind of maintenance way.
If you want to clean your bathtub, you have to know the type of your tub first then you can do the right ways to clean it. If you are misused the methods, it can cause damage or even worse staining to certain types of tub. There are three kinds of tub materials: porcelain, enamel and acrylic. If your tub is made of porcelain, you can pour abrasive powder and some water to clean the stain.
By using a scouring pad, scrub around the area you’ve applied the abrasive powder. For very tough stains, you can use a pumice stone to help you for such matter. Then make a paste of comet and water set on the bottom of porcelain tub or sinks for 15-30 minutes and scrubs it thoroughly.
Another way on how to clean a bathtub if your tub is made of enamel is using commercial cleaner or shampoo. Wipe it onto the stain for a few minutes and rinse off with warm water. For more serious stain, use trisodium phosphates mixed with a gallon of hot water for grease and soap scum.
The last type of tub is acrylic. For cleaning the acrylic tub, you need to wash it frequently than the other type of tub. You can hot water with dishwashing liquid. Using vinegar can be another option to clean the stain in your acrylic tubs.
Just spray a mixture of water and vinegar onto your tub, scrub with soft sponge and rinse with warm water. Avoid using pumice stones and scouring pads because it can cause scratch on your acrylic tub. Do the right ways to get the best result on how to clean a bathtub.
