Installing a dishwasher can be done in a few moments. This project is not so complicated project, so you can do it yourself without any help from the plumbers. Whether you want to install a new dishwasher in your kitchen, I recommend you to choose the built in dishwasher in order to have easier process during the installation. Besides, a built-in dishwasher takes up very little room.
So if your kitchen is small, you still can install this appliance. You can install one under as little as 2 feet (0.6 m) of countertop. Remember that you will need electric wiring, a water supply and a drain nearby. Here are the steps you need to do in this project.
The first thing you need to do is preparing the kitchen space for the dishwasher. As this tool needs a water supply, it is recommended to install it beside the sink for easier water supply. Most standard built-in dishwashers need at least a 24-inch (60 cm) wide opening.
So make sure that the space is wide enough to install this appliance in your kitchen. If you are installing a dishwasher for the first time in a space, drill holes through the cabinet for the dishwasher's electric wires, water inlets and drain tube. So you can keep your kitchen neatly.
Since the sink and the dishwasher are adjacently placed, you can connect the water supply line by using a dual outlet valve to the hot water inlet under the sink and reattach the sink hot water outlet to one side, and attach the dishwasher water supply line to the other outlet. Connect the water supply line to the dishwasher according to the instruction from the manufacturer.
Attach the dishwasher drainpipe to an existing dishwasher drain piece and make sure the top arch of the tube is higher than the drain inlet to prevent drain water from backing up into the dishwasher. The last step is connecting the electrical wires to the dishwashing unit. Make sure you attach the right cable on the right place.
As your dishwasher is installed properly installed, you can secure the dishwasher to the cabinet as it should be. Then you can start using this appliance. Hopefully this article will help you in installing a dishwasher.
